The Gold Beach
My prospecting began when I was about 7 years old, I panned my first nugget
high up in the Rocky mountains.
It was a nicely rounded nugget, having rolled so far from it's bedrock source.
When I was 8 we moved to the coast. At the age of 15 A friend asked me if I wanted to go pan some gold.
We hiked and hiked till we came to it, a rock bluff with veins of quartz imbedded in
it. Below was a beach, where the black sand’s where so thick, it
looked like oil[1].
When we kneeled down we could see tiny pin specks of gold right on the surface.[2]
We could pick the specks up with tweezers. The gold was rough edged,[3]suggesting a short
distance of travel from it's bedrock source .
There appears to be some
silver or mercury mixed in and one can get about 8 to 10 specks to the pan load.
It's this type of gold that excited prospectors in the past, with a bag of this
gold a company like brex could salt an area and make any claim worth a fortune.
Although a mine would be feasible ,it's a national park .
[One of the Spanish legends states they kneeled down in the
sand and saw gold flecks right on the surface.]
